Visitor Visa
Have An Eligible Passport
If you hold more than one passport, you must declare this in your ETA application and provide details of your other passports.
If you hold an ETA eligible passport, but you are also an Australian citizen, you do not need to apply for an ETA. Australian citizens have an automatic right of entry and do not need a visa to enter Australia. See Travelling as a dual citizen.
Be A Genuine Visitor
You must only intend to:
- stay temporarily in Australia.
- obey any condition and stay period attached to your visa.
If you stay in Australia for long periods or make frequent visits to Australia, we may ask you about your travel purpose next time you enter Australia. If you are found not to be a genuine visitor, your ETA may be cancelled.
Meet Our Health Requirement
You must meet our health requirement.
If you will be entering health care or hospital environments, you should apply for a Visitor (subclass 600) visa and complete the relevant health checks.
Meet Our Character Requirement
You must meet our health requirement.
If you have a criminal conviction in any country, you should apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600) and provide evidence about your criminal convictions.
If you are granted an ETA, but we find that you provided incorrect information, your ETA may be canceled.

Tourist Stream (apply in Australia)
This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to see family and friends or for purposes other than business or medical treatment.
Processing times
- 25% of applications: 16 Days.
- 50% of applications: 39 Days.
- 75% of applications: 63 Days.
- 90% of applications: 4 Months.
Visitor visa (subclass 600)
Tourist Stream (apply outside Australia)
This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to go on a cruise or to see family and friends.
First Work and Holiday visa
This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) have an extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip.
- You must have a passport from an eligible country.
- You can work while you are here.
- You can apply for a second Work and Holiday visa if you meet certain eligibility criteria.

- 50% of applications: 43 Days.
- 75% of applications: 65 Days.
- 90% of applications: 8 Months.
For Visitors and Working Holiday Makers, the processing time is calculated differently depending on when you applied. If you applied before the border reopened, then the processing time is calculated from the date you became eligible to travel. If you applied after the border reopened, then the processing time is calculated from the date you applied.
Second Work and Holiday visa
This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) who currently hold, or who have held, a Work and Holiday visa, have a second working holiday in Australia.
Stay- Up to 12 months

- You must have a passport from an eligible country.
- You can do any kind of work while you are here.
- You must have completed 3 months of specified subclass 462 work.
- You must have completed 6 months of specified subclass 462 work.
- If in Australia, hold a substantive visa or your last substantive visa expired less than 28 days ago.
